About the scan

What is an ultrasound scan?

Real-time images from high-frequency sound waves

An ultrasound scan is a non-invasive imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of internal organs, soft tissues, blood flow and developing babies. It uses no radiation, so it is safe for patients of all ages, including pregnant women and infants.

Our systems provide:

  • High-resolution B-mode imaging for organ structure
  • Colour Doppler imaging for blood flow assessment
  • 3D/4D imaging for obstetric ultrasound

Ultrasound services in Gurgaon

Every scan is performed by a trained sonologist and reviewed by an experienced radiologist before your report is delivered.

Abdominal ultrasound

Evaluates the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen. Detects kidney stones, gallstones, fatty liver, cysts and infections.

For abdominal pain, bloating, jaundice or routine screening

Pelvic ultrasound

Assesses the uterus, ovaries, bladder and pelvic structures, as a transabdominal or transvaginal scan when needed. Commonly detects fibroids, ovarian cysts, PCOS and endometriosis.

Pregnancy (obstetric) ultrasound

Support across all trimesters: dating scan (6–10 weeks), NT scan (11–14), anomaly scan (18–22), growth scan (28–40) and obstetric colour Doppler.

Thyroid ultrasound

Detailed imaging of thyroid size, structure, nodules and blood flow. Used for goitre, nodules and abnormal TSH results.

No preparation needed

Doppler ultrasound

Colour and duplex Doppler to assess blood flow: carotid, renal artery, venous (DVT), peripheral arterial and obstetric Doppler.

Breast ultrasound

Radiation-free imaging of lumps, cysts, fibroadenomas, abscesses and nipple discharge, on its own or alongside mammography.

Soft tissue and musculoskeletal

Real-time imaging of lumps, cysts, lipomas, muscle tears, tendon injuries and joint effusions. Often faster than MRI for many soft tissue questions.

Scrotal ultrasound

Evaluates orchitis, epididymitis, varicocele, hydrocele, torsion and testicular lumps.

Paediatric ultrasound

Safe, radiation-free imaging for infants and children, including neonatal head scans, hip dysplasia screening and abdominal scans.

Preparation guidelines

  • Abdominal scan: fast for 4–6 hours. Water is allowed.
  • Pelvic scan: arrive with a comfortably full bladder (3–4 glasses of water, 1 hour before).
  • Thyroid, breast, Doppler and soft tissue scans: no preparation needed.
  • Carry your doctor’s referral and any earlier scan reports.
  • Tell us about medicines, allergies or known conditions when you book.

The procedure

  1. You lie comfortably on the examination table.
  2. A water-based gel is applied to the skin.
  3. The sonologist moves a small probe over the area while live images appear on the monitor.
  4. It is painless and takes 15–30 minutes for most scans. No recovery time is needed.

Report turnaround

Reports: A radiologist-reviewed report is delivered digitally the same day, via WhatsApp or email, ready to share with your doctor.

Your visit: Most scans take 15–30 minutes, and the whole visit is usually 30–45 minutes. Anomaly scans and Doppler studies may take a little longer.

Which is the best ultrasound centre in Gurgaon?
Sanar Care Diagnostic Centre offers high-resolution imaging, radiologist-reviewed same-day reports and multiple accessible locations across Gurgaon, for abdominal, obstetric, thyroid and Doppler ultrasound.
Do I need to fast before an ultrasound scan?
Abdominal ultrasound needs fasting for 4 to 6 hours so the gallbladder is distended and the stomach is clear. Pelvic ultrasound needs a full bladder, not fasting. Thyroid, breast and Doppler scans need no preparation. We share specific instructions when you book.
Is an ultrasound scan safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Ultrasound uses sound waves, not radiation, and is safe at every stage of pregnancy. Dating, NT, anomaly and growth scans are routinely recommended by OB-GYN doctors, and all obstetric scans at Sanar Care are performed by trained sonologists.
Is an ultrasound safe for everyone?
Yes. It uses high-frequency sound waves, not X-rays, so it is safe for pregnant women, infants, children, elderly patients and people with chronic conditions. There are no known side effects of diagnostic ultrasound when performed by trained professionals.
How long does an ultrasound take?
Most standard scans (abdominal, pelvic, thyroid or soft tissue) take 15 to 30 minutes. Anomaly scans and Doppler studies may take 30 to 45 minutes. Reports are delivered digitally the same day.
Do I need a doctor’s referral for an ultrasound?
No formal referral is required to book a scan. A doctor’s prescription is recommended so you get the right type of scan, and it is required for insurance reimbursement claims.
Can I walk in without an appointment?
Booking ahead by call or WhatsApp keeps your waiting time minimal and guarantees a slot, especially for specialised scans such as Doppler or obstetric ultrasound.
What types of ultrasound does Sanar Care offer?
Abdominal, pelvic, pregnancy and obstetric (dating, NT, anomaly, growth), thyroid, colour and duplex Doppler, breast, soft tissue and musculoskeletal, scrotal and paediatric ultrasound, at our Gurgaon diagnostic centres.
